I am totally going to date myself but it didn't seem all that long ago (early 1980's) I was playing with a Rubik's cube in my youth. Try as I might I just couldn't solve it using traditional methods. For us "dumb" people (when I say dumb I actually mean smart), I finally resorted to mechanical intervention by prying off a corner of the cube to reveal one of it's few vunerabilities. In doing that, I was able to re-order the cube to give the illusion that I had solved the puzzle. Not until this past Thanksgiving weekend did I find out that my mom had believed (for the past 20+ years) I had solved it. She explained that she revealed this to many of her friends and acquaintances and was so proud of me. When I dropped my little informational snack on her that I actually took it apart and put it back together she looked at me as if someone had burned the candied yams. Well, I couldn't disappoint her after that. It took me about 2 hours but I did it. ME!!!
